Picture of a Day
Head, Heart and Hands
Nurturing the child’s vitality and well being.
We are gearing up for a virtual world that may steal the minds and hearts of our children and erode their physical well being and daily sensory capacities if we don’t find the human balance; with sensory perceptions.
Our rhythmic day includes daily farm chores, artistic activities, handwork, music, storytelling and free play as well as academics.
In the morning the children study classical education. They spend 3 hours everyday focused on academic work. Music, poetry, art and movement are woven through the lessons.
The children also enjoy learning new skills such as artisan weaving, relief carving, metalwork and cheesemaking.
We are a click away from a vastness of information at our literal fingertips. The LAST thing teachers need to give students is more information. Instead we need to make sense of it and learn to discern.
Whether you are working with clay, stone, visual arts, wood sculpture, music, or dance, the process of penetrating a subject through art is a galaxy unto itself.
