THE PEOPLE
Waldorf trained,
BC-certified teachers, artists, gardeners,
musicians, and
craftspeople.
The people who teach here didn't stumble into it. They came because something about this way of doing things — the rhythm, the relationships, the respect for childhood — felt true to them. They are whole people who teach: makers, growers, musicians, thinkers. And that wholeness is something children absorb, quietly and deeply, just by being around them.
FOUNDER & LEAD TEACHER
Sietske Fichter
Rooted in the principles of Waldorf education, Sietske believes in nurturing the intellectual, emotional, and practical development of each individual. As both a teacher and mentor, she has inspired others through compassionate guidance, artistic expression, and an appreciation for meaningful human connection. Her teaching style encourages imagination, independence, and respect for the rhythms of life and learning.
Beyond the classroom, Sietske is an avid traveller whose journeys have broadened her understanding of cultures, traditions, and ways of living. These experiences continue to shape her worldview and enrich her educational philosophy, bringing openness and global awareness into her work and relationships.
Sietske also has a strong connection to the land as a farmer and steward of nature. Through farming, she embraces sustainable living, hands-on work, and the importance of living in harmony with the environment. This grounding in nature complements her educational values, reinforcing the importance of balance, patience, and care in both teaching and daily life.
Combining the roles of educator, mentor, traveller, and farmer, Sietske leads a life guided by purpose, creativity, and a deep respect for people and the earth.

HOW WE TEACH
Teachers who stay
At Frogsong, teachers stay with their class for as many years as possible. This isn't incidental — it's central to our philosophy. A teacher who knows a child across multiple years develops a depth of understanding that simply isn't possible in a system built around annual transitions.
Long-term relationships between teachers, students, and families build the kind of trust that lets real learning happen.
"In order to teach, one must learn to listen to the students."
— M.C Richards
