Nurturing Head, Heart and Hands
A Waldorf-inspired farm school in Cobble Hill, BC, offering small-group, relationship-based learning for children ages 5–13.
OUR BELIEF
We think childhood deserves more room than most schools give it.
In a world filled with screens, overstimulation, and busy schedules, many of us are feeling that childhood has started to move too fast. We're seeing more and more children overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, and losing their curiosity and confidence far too early.
At Frogsong, we wanted to create something different. A place where our children can move, create, imagine, build, explore, ask questions, and truly belong. Inspired by Waldorf education and shaped by nearly three decades of teaching experience, we care deeply about offering an education that supports the whole child in a grounded, connected, and developmentally appropriate way.
We deeply value academics. We simply believe children learn best when pressure is reduced and curiosity is protected.
Hands-on learning with real life experiences
We bring academics to life through hands-on, meaningful experiences that engage both the mind and body. Math might look like running a small market stand, working with money and decimals through real-world projects that make learning feel alive and memorable.
Small classes, deep connection
With small class sizes, every child is truly known. We prioritize emotional well-being, confidence, creativity, and meaningful relationships so children feel safe to learn, grow, ask questions, and be themselves.
Rooted in rhythm & nature
Our days are grounded in movement, outdoor learning, creativity, and connection to the natural world. From tending animals and gardens to learning together in the yurt, we create space for curiosity, imagination, and belonging to grow naturally.
THE RHYTHM
A day that makes sense to a child's body and mind
Every morning starts with the farm — chores, animals, garden check. The academic block follows, woven with story and project. Afternoons belong to arts, handwork, and music.
Classes are held in our spacious, wifi-free yurt, flooded with natural light. The land is the classroom as much as the yurt is.

FROM FROGSONG FAMILIES
What parents tell us
“We moved to this community about a year and a half ago from a place where we had experienced a close-knit blended homeschool program that deeply valued safety, nature, connection, and small group learning. We were hoping to find something similar here — a place that could support our children not only academically, but emotionally, socially, and developmentally as whole human beings. Finding Frogsong felt like such a gift.
I’m constantly grateful to drop my son off in such a peaceful, caring environment. Since joining Frogsong, he’s deepened so many meaningful skills through tending animals, gardening, creating, caring for the land, and learning through direct experience. It’s all becomes such a natural way of life for him — beautifully woven alongside meaningful academics, creativity, and connection.
Even when certain academic pieces stretch my son, he’s genuinely excited to go each day and comes home with wonderful stories and experiences to share. To see children held with so much heart, care, harmony, and respect feels like an incredible gift as a mother who deeply cares not only about my own children, but about the kind of world we are shaping together — one our children can feel proud, connected, and excited to belong to.”
— ZOEY“Situated on a well-run and carefully tended family farm, with a variety of animals and a quiet rural feel, plenty of room to explore, play and engage in the many and varied practical learning activities that the teachers bring to the children- Who could ask for a better environment?
Sietske (who is teacher of the early grades) is a gifted storyteller and has many years of experience as a Waldorf teacher. Annie is a gifted musician and brings a harmony and peace to her classroom that is palpable. Subjects taught are drawn from the Waldorf curriculum and meet the children at the appropriate developmental stage and level of development.
As a new grandmother, this is the education I would choose for my own grandchild (currently still a baby, and unfortunately living half a world away – so unable to attend for two reasons at present).
The future, at present ,can seem very uncertain- with AI as one concern among many…At this time more than ever - an embodied way of learning – that focuses on healthy engagement with the natural world -learning to design, create and produce handwork and engage with real tasks in the real world -is even more important.
Children who have developed in this kind of environment have a real sense of self esteem; one that does not depend on external validation,(even that of parents) but is solidly based on what they have brought into being and how they have learned to live in the world. When wearing a scarf they have knit themselves, eating meals they have prepared , playing music to lighten the spirit, children come to know themselves as competent and worthy individuals. By staying in a small social context from one year to the next, they gain social skills that will help them in whatever groups they may form or join in the future. An education at Frogsong can be the first step on a path of lifelong learning- why not drop in. and visit and see for yourself?”
— VIVIAN“A dream school for busy parents who work and still want an alternative, grounded education for their kids.
Here, kids learn real skills while truly getting to be kids. The program offers such a beautiful, thoughtful approach to learning, it’s truly wholesome. The farm setting feels especially meaningful right now. In a world that feels increasingly disconnected, this school brings children back to the roots, keeping them close to nature, compassion, and an embodied understanding of reciprocity.
Each day begins with farm chores before gathering in the classroom. Learning happens in spaces filled with natural light, warm wooden furniture, and a sense of care. Annie holds the space with such tenderness and care, along with music, art, and dance woven seamlessly alongside language and math.
Learning feels alive here. It’s fun, engaging, and centered on the child’s actual experience rather than rigid curriculum boxes to check. My kids are happy, confident and genuinely excited to go to school each day.
It’s the kind of school that I wished existed when I was a kid!”
